You can change the Default Desktop picture which shows behind you login window to customize the look and feel of your OS X Leopard machine.
Here is how.
  • Copy the DefaultDesktop.jpg file from: /System/Library/CoreServices/DefaultDesktop.jpg to your Desktop.
  • Now delete the file from it's original folder.
  • Edit the one just copied to your desktop in your favourite photo editor and save it
  • Now copy it back into the /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder and log out to view the result
In case you want to go back to the original one, but didn't keep a copy you can get the original DefaultDesktop.jpg back here.
